Meet the Founder
Emma Lifer
Emma Lifer is a serial hobbyist by night & a corporate girly by day.
She is an SLC dweller - with a slight aversion to venturing out of Salt Lake County, if you know you know. I have two Cavalier King Charles Spaniels, my pride and joys in this life!
I began needlepointing over two years ago, and never looked back, but felt like Utah was missing the community I saw so many others sharing, and SLC Stitch Club was born!
Where It All Began

For years, needlepoint and fiber arts have been a way for people to gather and pass time. When I started needlepointing, I remember thinking how great of a hobby it is for socializing. You can create something beautiful, in the company of others with the same hobby, and potentially walk away with more skill in the craft that you started with?!
I looked around in SLC for a way to meet more people in the needlepoint community - and realized it didn’t exist. So I did what every sane person does, decided to make a club!
SLC Stitch Club started with a cold dm on Tiktok to the only person I could find when I searched “utah needlepoint” - Shoutout Kayla for being member #1. I dm’ed her and asked if she wanted to meet up to stitch sometime.
A month later, I took a chance and rented a venue that could fit max 12 people. I remember being so nervous I didn’t know if anyone would come - but I posted about it on TikTok, and talked it up to anyone who would listen at Needlepoint & Other Things.
The first Stitch Club had 10 people, but I knew there had to be more people feeling what I was. “There has to be a place to meet friends, talk about what we love, and have a low-stakes way to socialize.”
I kept posting, talking to anyone who’d listen, and our next meetup had 52 people!
From there, SLC Stitch Club has evolved to what it is now. A place to stitch, bitch, and sip - however that looks for you, whether it’s needlepoint, crosstitch, or other handwork hobbies.

xo, Emma
